Body 28 was one of 33 known victims of John Wayne Gacy and one of five who remain unidentified. His remains were the penultimate to be recovered from Gacy's property.

Case[]

Unlike the majority of Gacy's victims, this individual was buried in a grave in Gacy's backyard, as opposed to within the crawl space of his home. Plastic garbage bags and dry-cleaner bags had been wrapped around the victim's remains before his burial 15 feet (4.6 m) from the barbecue pit in Gacy's backyard.

According to several sources, this individual was Gacy's second confirmed murder, which, in some statements provided by Gacy following his arrest, occurred circa January - December 1974. However, his range of death is commonly listed between early 1972 and the end of July 1975, and Gacy is known to have later confided this victim died "before late '76."

After entering Gacy's home, he was sexually assaulted and tortured. He was killed by strangulation and initially placed in a closet before decomposition prompted his eventual burial. It is unknown where the victim met Gacy or if he willingly accompanied his killer as a result of the known methods of gaining his victim's trust.

The other unidentified victims of Gacy are Body 10, Body 13, Body 21 and Body 26.
