Elisabeth Ann "Ellie" Huster was a girl who went missing in 1996 in Oregon. While her remains have never been found, her mother is currently incarcerated for her presumed murder.
Ellie's parents had separated in November 1995, and Ellie resided with her mother. Ellie's father, Michael, had reported her missing after he had been unable to contact Ellie for months and discovered she had not been enrolled in school. Ellie's mother, Karen, had sold many of Ellie's possessions in September 1996, a month after she was last seen. For the next several years, Karen refused to reveal Ellie's whereabouts. Authorities became suspicious after Karen was imprisoned for unrelated purposes, and Ellie's whereabouts could not be identified.
In February 2002, Karen pleaded insanity and claimed to have killed Ellie through a gunshot wound inflicted in the head after angels requested her to give Ellie to their care. Karen allegedly dismembered Ellie's body and disposed of the remnants into the Pacific Ocean. Karen was sentenced 25 years to life in prison for Ellie's presumed murder. Ellie's remains have never been located.
